nudist cinema lands in theaters

“A Christmas thriller that talks about family relationships” does not seem, a priori, to be the genre that could attract an audience made up of nudists, but that is what it has been like: the Spanish film ‘You are not me’, by Marisa Crespo and Moisés Romer is pioneer in the initiative of organizing sessions for nudist audiences. The idea arose, in fact, during the filming: the Valencian Naturist Association collaborated with them and suggested doing a show of this type.

The film’s distributor thought it could be an interesting hook, and last sunday This initiative took place in three Spanish cinemas: the Embajadores in Madrid, the Girona in Barcelona and the Lys in Valencia. The initiative will be called ‘Cinema al natural’ and is planned entirely by the distributor, who could consider repeating it with future editions, given the success: in the three cities the screenings ended with full capacity.

There are rules, of course, that must be respected so that collective hygiene and respect for seatmates are imposed: for example, access must be done with clothing, and the public must undress inside. It is also mandatory the use of towels on the seats and covering the entire seat and backrest. The cinema’s common areas require the audience to redress if they leave the room, and of course recording and taking photos inside the room is prohibited.

Although the distributor does not claim any type of message associated with this action, but merely a promotional one for the film, there are those who are interested in this type of experiences being provided: the naturist associations that have collaborated in the organization. Apart from the aforementioned Valencian Naturist Association, there are other groups such as the Catalan Naturisme Club, the Association for the Defense of Naturism or the Spanish Naturism Federation.

The latter says that “the naturist associations of the FEN have been carrying out and participating in cultural activities such as visits to museums and theater shows. These activities try to promote a positive perception of the human body.making visible the normality of our bodies, which are mostly non-normative. “It is about de-sexualizing and de-commercializing nudity, which our society only views favorably for sexual and commercial purposes.”
