Iberdrola and BP Pulse have opened the largest public charging station for electric vehicles in Granada. Both companies, which are part of the same Joint Venture, activate this enormous hub located in the Nevada shopping center, the largest in the province.
The location is key, at a point close to the A-92 and A-44, roads that connect the main provinces of the Autonomous Community, and in a shopping center that registers thousands of visitors a year.
A total of 70 places. According to Iberdrola and BP Pulse, the facility has a total of 70 charging points, distributed among the different parking spaces that the shopping center has.
These charging points include eight 150 kW ultra-fast charging points, a total of six 50 kW charging points and 56 22 kW semi-fast charging points.
It’s just the first step. Although this megahub is the largest in Spain at the moment, the launch of this station is only the first step of a great strategic plan. It is contemplated to implement similar stations in shopping centers under the ownership of GalerĂas Comerciales, in more provinces of Andalusia, Catalonia and the Canary Islands.
The objective of this Joint Venture is to develop the largest ultra-fast cargo network in Spain and Portugal, and this is one of the first steps to achieve it. The final plan is to achieve 11,700 operational fast and ultra-fast charging points by 2030, with an investment of 1,000 million euros.
The solution to a big problem. The lack of electric chargers not only affects Spain, it is a problem at the European level. More and more electric cars are being sold, and the surface of electric chargers is not capable of absorbing their numbers.
With Euro7 as a great step to pressure manufacturers towards the path of electrification and the 2030 and 2035 restrictions on the table, it is necessary for the European road network to grow, a lot.
