Realme has just made one of the most curious announcements of this end of the year: one of its star phones in the mid-high range will change color in the cold. We are talking about the Realme 14 Pro, a terminal that will arrive to compete directly with Xiaomi’s Redmi family and Samsung’s Galaxy A.
One of its main assets will be the designand they wanted to take advantage of it to provide it with a feature not seen to date. In collaboration with Nordic industrial design studio Valeur Designers, the Realme 14 Pro series will be sensitive to temperature changes.
How have they achieved it? Realme explains that the phone will use a system of thermochromic pigments that react to changes in temperature. Specifically, when the temperature drops below 16°C, the back of the phone will turn from pearl white to vibrant blue.
As the cold goes down, the blue will become more intense. Realme itself indicates that, with regular use, this characteristic can “gradually decrease”, due to the very nature of the thermochromic fiber.
The company also anticipates that the phone will arrive with a quad curved screen – something that should be similar to what we saw in the Realme GT7 Pro -, with a frontal utilization of almost 94%. It will also come with a triple camera, triple flash for night portraits, and IP68/IP69 certifications to withstand immersion up to 1.5m.
This phone will be presented in the first quarter of 2024 and, at the moment, there is no news about its specifications or technical characteristics.
