This is the Katboard, your new mechanical keyboard

Content creators long ago stopped being just content creators. Most personalities from YouTube, Twitch, Kick and other platforms have undertaken different adventures in other sectors and Rubén Doblas Gundersen aka El Rubius, has been no less.

What is surely one of the most recognizable faces on the Spanish-speaking scene has a brand of gaming products, Madkat, which until now only offered a chair. Today the creator goes one step further with its first technological product: a gaming keyboard named Katboard.

The Rubius keyboard. The Katboard is a TKL (Tenkeyless) keyboard. This means that it lacks the numeric keypad normally found on the right, but retains keys such as Home, End, Page Down, Page Up and Delete. Thanks to this format, the keyboard is more compact and takes up less space on the desktop than a conventional keyboard. However, the creator has not missed the opportunity to place a knob in the upper right corner to control the volume easily and quickly.

The keys. The keyboard is made of “premium materials” and has been designed “in direct collaboration with Rubius.” The keycaps are personalized and show Japanese kanji, the cat logo on the Esc and Enter key, “OMG” on the Windows key and the brand name on the space bar. The keys are made of PBT, a better option in terms of long-term durability than ABS, and, as it could not be otherwise in a gaming keyboard, it is backlit.

The switches. Needless to say, the Katboard is a mechanical keyboard. The switches chosen have been Kailh Red. These switches are linear, have a useful life of 70 million keystrokes and a fairly low actuation force, so they are more sensitive and an interesting option if we play shooters or titles in which we have to press several keys quickly.

Price. The keyboard can be purchased now on the Madkat website for 99.99 euros. It is a limited edition and will be available until January 5 or while supplies last. Each keyboard is numbered and includes a personalized 80 x 40 centimeter mousepad and a collector’s card. 200 of those letters will be signed by Rubius. It will be available in black and yellow.
