Revolut is going to install ATMs in the two large Spanish airports. You will not be able to withdraw money from them

Revolut has big plans for Spain in 2025, and among them is launching a network of ATMs in our country. An agreement has already been reached to install the first ones, but be careful, because they will not be ATMs.

Revolut ATMs in airports. As noted in Expansión, the neobank Revolut has won the Aena competition for card issuing machines in the two large airports of Madrid and Barcelona. Although they will look similar to ATMs that you can use to withdraw money, they won’t actually do that.

The most important startup in all of Europe has nothing to do with AI. It is revolutionizing the fintech world

Money in the form of a Revolut card. Instead of withdrawing money, Revolut customers will be able to obtain a bank card from the entity at that time. Those who are not customers will be able to sign up for the service to also receive one of these cards directly, something useful in order to be able to make payments in all types of businesses. The firm had already begun installing machines of this type in November at Milan airports —here a video showing the ATM—, Rome, Porto, Brussels and Helsinki. In the Italian capital alone they have already distributed 100,000 cards, say those responsible for Revolut.

An option with a view to Latin America. Until now, to get a Revolut card it was necessary to receive it by regular mail — which also imposes a shipping cost — and this new option opens up that interesting possibility for all customers in its network. Not only that: as they point out in Expansión, these machines will be a showcase for the Latin American market, where Revolut wants to begin to establish itself.

Then the traditional ATMs will arrive. Revolut will install eight ATMs at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas airport and nine in El Prat, but that number could be expanded while the contract between AENA and the entity remains in force. It is an initiative that serves as a preview of Revolut’s ambition to open 50 traditional ATMs in 2025 in both Madrid and Barcelona.

One year to validate the idea. The contract with AENA will have a duration of one year and can be extended for another year. In Barcelona Revolut will pay Aena 395,280 euros per year for the spaces, while in Madrid the figure will be 370,560 euros. The Revolut ATMs will share the 34 traditional ATMs at Barcelona airport and the 31 at Madrid airport.

Revolut continues to grow. Revolut’s move is one more way to increase its presence in our country, where, for example, the integration with Bizum consolidates its position as one of the great alternatives for users. The neobank already has four million clients in Spain, while the global figure It is 50 million.
