Android 15 has arrived and after a first quarterly update of the system, Google is already preparing the second, whose final launch is expected in March. If you have a Google Pixel 6 or higher, you can try now the second beta of the second Android 15 update.

This second beta fixes a good number of errors, several of them related to Bluetooth and some of them very annoying. In addition, it allows us to test some of the main new features of this update, such as the Linux terminal.

What’s new in Android 15 QPR 2 Beta 2

With Android 15 QPR 2 Beta 2 you can now download and install Linux Terminal for Androidalthough you can’t do much with it yet since it doesn’t have hardware acceleration or support for running graphical environments, which will come later. In addition, we find the following changes:

  • Themed icons are no longer “beta”. Introduced in Android 12, in all these years they continued to include the beta label.
  • Design changes. The WiFi sharing screen adopts Material You, the Pixel Launcher search bar has a new closing animation, and accessories with Fast Pair include their own icon in the Bluetooth device list.
  • Notification cooldown. Notification Cooldown is a function that will prevent an application from bombarding us with notifications. We thought it would be exclusive to Android 16, but apparently it will also come to Android 15 in this second quarterly update.
  • New option for developers. This involves booting the device using a 16 KB page size.

Of course, Android 15 QPR 2 Beta 2 also includes a good collection of bug fixessome of them quite important. They are the following:

  • Fixed an issue that prevented you from accessing the “ANGLE Preferences” option in Developer Options.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented some glucose sensor devices from connecting.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a long delay when selecting options to make a call.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the “Limit to 80%” option from being enabled in the load optimization settings.
  • Fixed a null pointer issue that could cause devices to crash or reboot unexpectedly.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused Pixel Fold devices to become unresponsive while unfolded.
  • Fixed inconsistent behavior bug during switching from ASHA to LE Audio and vice versa, ensuring audio always stops when switching.
  • Fixed a bug that caused an L2CAP connection error with error reason code 3 after restarting the phone due to incorrect saving of the security level during pairing.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed LE links to remain unencrypted when reconnecting to linked devices, potentially exposing sensitive data to attackers.
  • Fixed a Bluetooth HAL hang or crash bug when Bluetooth LE audio hardware download is disabled.

If you have a Google Pixel 6 or later, a Pixel Fold, or a Pixel Tablet, you can download Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3 flashing the image with Android Flash Tool either downloading it and flashing it manually. The easiest way to obtain them, however, is signing up for the Android 15 beta program.
